Pre 1954 Pledge of
Allegiance
Our
"Pledge of Allegiance" block carries quite a controversial
piece of American history. The pledge was written and
published in 1892 by Francis Bellamy and James B. Upham. The
original pledge was a little different from the one of
today, it first pledged allegiance to "my Flag". In 1923 the
words were changed to "the Flag of the United States of
America". The words "Under God" were added on June 14th,
1954.
